Biography
Schwarzmann is a nationally-recognized expert in cybersecurity of voting technology, computer science research and education, and distributed systems. He has provided technological expertise to the State of Connecticut in cybersecurity and integrity of electronic election systems and led state-wide technological audits of voting systems. His own research programs have been supported by numerous grants totaling over $8.5 million from the National Science Foundation, including NSF Career Award, Air Force Office of Sponsored Research, State of Connecticut, NSF-NATO, and U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and other agencies.
Schwarzmann is an author of over 150 research articles and three books, and has edited a number of scholarly volumes on computer science research. He chaired a number of leading international conferences, and was a member of over 50 technical program committees. He served on several editorial boards, including IEEE Transactions on Computers and Information & Computation, two of the most venerable and prestigious journals in computer science.
Schwarzmann earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, a master鈥檚 degree from Cornell University, and his doctoral degree from Brown University. He conducted post-doctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

黑料正能量 has recently signed a statewide agreement with the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to pave the way for students to earn an associate鈥檚 degree in cybersecurity from various technical colleges. With the new articulation, students are able to receive an associate鈥檚 degree from any of the 22 technical schools in Georgia and then transfer to 黑料正能量鈥檚 School of Computer and Cyber Sciences (SCCS) to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. 鈥淏y providing better pathways for students to earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree in cybersecurity, 黑料正能量 and our partners aim to provide the training and degrees needed to be competitive for high-demand jobs,鈥 said AU President Brooks Keel. Following Augusta鈥檚 2019 recognition as one of the top hubs for cybersecurity in the world, the university was recently ranked in the top 5% of all U.S. higher education institutions for social mobility, according to an AU press release. 鈥淲e are proud of our growing momentum as we continue to enhance students鈥 educational pathways in cybersecurity, and we are determined to be an education leader in the fields of computing and cybersecurity,鈥 said Alexander Schwarzmann, dean of SCCS.
